MEET THE MIND BEHIND
About Elizabeth
My name is Elizabeth Cobbett. I am an independent researcher. Following my decision to take voluntary redundancy in 2025, I am affiliated with the University of Plymouth (UK) as an Honorary Researcher. Before entering academia, I gained expertise and experience in feminist and social movements, as well as in grassroots communities. I was part of the 2000 World March of Women project in Maputo, Mozambique. I have worked in Montreal as a community organiser in a community-built health service in Pointe St Charles. For the last twenty years, my research has centred on critical perspectives of African political economies.
As academic work remains essentially institutionalised, this website offers a critical platform for disseminating my research outputs, communicating reflections and analyses on various aspects of global politics, reviewing books and other works of interest, and sharing my teaching resources as open-source materials. I am available as a consultant for PhD and prospective postgraduate students. This includes helping students conceive, elaborate and finalise PhD proposals, revising chapters and offering feedback in the Social Sciences, including International Relations (IR), International Political Economy (IPE), and African Politics.
